Justine Gros
Founder & Director of LUMPA
Born on the shores of the Atlantic, Justine grew up between sailors' stories and the contemplation of a horizon with no limits. A trained documentary photographer, she spent several years travelling the coastlines — from the Philippine Pacific to the Azores, from Breton fishing ports to coral reefs — documenting maritime cultures threatened with disappearance.
From these journeys was born a conviction: the ocean's knowledge deserves a platform worthy of it. In 2024, she founded LUMPA to build the bridge between people of the sea — surfers, fishermen, skippers, biologists, artisans — and those who want to understand what the ocean teaches us.
She believes the best journalism is the kind that disappears behind its subject.
